Tryst
No Corporate Coffee, No Matching Silverware
Right in the center of the nations capital, Tryst stands in stark contrast to the suburban culture and coffee chains that proliferate the country. We’re a single location, owned and operated by the same couple that started it in 1998. No, our silverware doesn’t always match, and we don’t have 75 different kinds of trademarked, pre-made caramel-nilla-frapp-a-ccino-supremas. What we do have is excellent made to order food and drink, and a commitment to serving the community. Today, Tryst is still the city’s neighborhood coffeehouse and Adams Morgan’s bar oasis.
That Third Place
The French have their cafés, the English their pubs, the Greeks their tavernas and bodegas; what do we have in America? Somewhere between home and work we all need a ‘third place’ to go -- where we can escape the stresses of everyday responsibilities but still connect (with high speed internet access if you choose) to your local community and the outside world. Tryst is that place. At Tryst, you can linger over a latte, scarf down a sandwich, or get dressed up for a date and sip martinis. Here, you're part of an eclectic mix of characters, art, and ambience.
Good Food & Drink, for the People
We have distilled centuries of coffee and cocktail history, culture and culinary craft into something modern and uniquely our own. We offer specialty coffee and espresso drinks made by artisan baristas, craft cocktails made with reference to the classics and incorporating fresh and interesting ingredients, fine pastries baked daily by our sister restaurant, handmade rustic breads for our gourmet sandwiches, and small plates that incorporate flavors from around the world. Food and drink are part of life and who we are, and as our lives become faster, more efficient, and less personal, we can take solace in the personal care that goes into Tryst’s products and service.
